How it works
Every Torch engagement follows the same four-step rhythm.

Evaluate
Building self awareness is the first step toward growth. The Torch Leadership Assessment helps experienced professionals gain clarity on existing strengths and development opportunities.

Coach
During regular 1:1 video sessions, an experienced Torch coach will help the leader develop a plan based on their leadership assessment results.

Execute
Leaders then set their own growth goals with the help of their Torch coach. Together, they will define specific actions to track progress and hit leadership development targets.

What is Torch?
Amgen has partnered with Torch, a leading organization specializing in leadership coaching.
Will I be guaranteed my cohort start date preference?
Participants will indicate their preferred start date/cohort, and our team will do our best to accommodate your first preference. If your preferred cohort is not available, you will be automatically enrolled in the next available cohort.
What can I expect from a Torch coach?
The heart of Torch is our coaches. Their impressive backgrounds go beyond a certification. Torch coaches all have strong credentials paired with real-world business experience. Our clients are so happy with their coach choices, we consistently sustain a 96% coach match success rate.
What will I work on during my 1:1 coaching engagement?
Participants get the opportunity to get high-touch development delivered by trained coaching professionals. Some examples of focus areas for 1:1 coaching include (not a comprehensive list): ongoing development (work on leadership skills); situational support (talk through tough situations, prepare for a big meeting or a difficult conversation); overcoming internal blocks to success (identify limiting beliefs that are keeping you from taking your career to the next level); improving professional relationships and communication (close the gap between the current and ideal state in interpersonal and team interactions); and career planning (thought-partnership in visioning and planning your career trajectory).
Who gets to see what I’m working on with my coach?
You and your coach. We encourage participants to involve your manager in your development journey, but the extent to which you share the content of your coaching sessions with your manager is up to you.
What’s not confidential?
Program managers have the ability to see the high-level dashboard, including progress and engagement status, as well as anonymized themes across your org. The specific details of the coaching conversations remain private.
What is the time commitment?
A couple of hours, per month.
What are some best practices to get the most out of coaching?
Select your coach within 1 week of receiving options and schedule your first session and recurring sessions. Provide immediate and ongoing feedback to the coach (via survey, email, or video calls). Attend all sessions, including group coaching sessions, and prioritize your growth.
What is the onboarding process?
Once you’ve enrolled and the cohorts are finalized, you will be invited to the Torch platform to complete the Coach Matching Survey. Select one of three coach options directly on your dashboard. Get introduced to your coach and schedule your first session with your coach.
