Navigate the transition to working parenthood with coaching support

We invite new parents and parents expanding your family to partake in the Working Parent Coaching program. This offering will help you develop skills to manage your changing work and family responsibilities during this exciting and transitional time. Enrollment deadline is the 25th of each month.

Check to see if you are eligible for the program before you get started (see FAQ #2 below). Sign up and select the date you’d like your coaching engagement to begin. On that date, you’ll receive an email invitation from Torch to create a match profile on the coaching platform so we can find a coach that fits your needs.

Important: Be sure to review the eligibility requirements for Working Parent Coaching prior to enrolling. If you do not meet the requirements, you are still able to explore coaching through the Coaching for All program, a 1:1 coaching support to assist our employees in achieving business results and career goals. Be sure to visit go/coaching for more details on how to sign-up.

How coaching works

Three phases — from enrollment to ongoing partnership.

1. Get Started

Sign up by selecting the date you’d like your coaching engagement to begin. On that date, you’ll receive an email invitation from Torch to create a match profile on the coaching platform so we can find a coach that fits your needs.

Estimated effort: 15 minutes

2. Match Process

Look for an email from Torch where you will learn more about the coach who will guide your experience. Once you match with your coach, your 3-month coaching engagement begins.

Estimated timeline: 1 day

3. Your Partnership

Discuss with your coach the cadence you would like to meet and book these sessions so you make the most of your experience.

Estimated effort: a few hours per month

How it works

Every Torch engagement follows the same four-step rhythm.

1. Evaluate

Building self awareness is the first step toward growth. The Torch Leadership Assessment helps experienced professionals gain clarity on existing strengths and development opportunities.

2. Coach

During regular 1:1 video sessions, an experienced Torch coach will help build a custom development plan based on your goals and needs.

3. Execute

Leaders then set their own growth goals with the help of their Torch coach. Together, they will define specific actions to track progress and hit leadership development targets.

4. Grow

Integrate learnings and capture insights for a new leadership future.

Frequently asked questions

I’m new to coaching. How does it work?

A coaching engagement is an individualized journey with a certified coach. It’s a time for participants to identify challenges and solutions through a facilitated and personalized learning experience. The Working Parent Coaching program will help new parents and those expanding your family to navigate their changing work/family responsibilities in terms of their work. We anticipate some things you might focus on are pre-leave, long-term career planning concerns (i.e. “How will having a child impact my standing as a professional?”), pre-leave, short-term concerns (i.e. “How can I prepare myself and my team to function well in my absence?”), as well as post-leave, reintegration concerns (i.e. “How am I going to balance my current workload with my new responsibilities?”) Through coaching, participants will identify goals and behaviors that are important to them during this changing time, and discuss strategies to help achieve those objectives.

Am I eligible to participate in this program and receive coaching?

Working Parent Coaching is offered to 1) Soon-to-be parents who are preparing for the arrival of their child and 2) new parents who welcomed a child or have returned to work from a maternity/paternity/parental leave within a year.

How is Working Parent Coaching different from other LinkedIn coaching offerings?

Working Parent Coaching has very specific eligibility requirements that are tied to the life event of welcoming a child as a soon-to-be parent or new parent. LinkedIn does offer other coaching programs: Coaching for All provides all full-time LinkedIn employees with the opportunity to engage in 1:1 coaching with a certified coach or AI-powered coach to support their personal development. Live 1:1 coaching engagements vary from 6 weeks up to 8 months, depending on your role level and specific coaching goals. The engagements offered through the Coaching for All program are independent of other role, org-specific, or more technical coaching programs such as Blueprint Coaching or the Service Quality Program in GBO. Learn more about Coaching for All at go/Coaching. Lyra Health / Irish Health, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), supports mental and emotional wellness. Though not designed specifically to help with career coaching for parents, they can still guide you through various challenges to you and your well-being, as a new parent. Learn more on go/InLife > EAP. If you are eligible, we highly recommend you opt for the Working Parent Coaching program and utilize this curated experience fully, prior to considering enrollment in other coaching programs.

What is my commitment when I sign up?

With coaching, you have unlimited access to 45-minute, 1:1 coaching sessions for 3 months. Once you sign up, you’ll receive a matching survey to help get you paired with the right coach. As part of this commitment, we also ask that you complete feedback surveys so we can iterate on this experience. Your feedback is aggregated and confidential. Note: If you are a Prospective Parent, you can move into the New Parent engagement, in which you will be able to access another 3 months of coaching. Make sure to register again on go/wpc as a “New Parent” and Torch will be in touch about next steps.

What happens if I want to stop before the 3 months are up?

That’s fine and we appreciate you letting us know so that your spot can be allocated to other employees. Please file a ticket with Talent Services via go/helpin.

When do my 3 months start?

Your 3 months of coaching begins the day you’ve matched with your coach.

Is this available to me as a soon-to-be parent and eventually as a new parent returning to work?

Yes. You are eligible for two coaching engagements with Torch through the Working Parent Coaching program: prior to the birth or placement of your child, you can access 3 months of unlimited 1:1 coaching. Upon your return to work after you have welcomed a child, you can access an additional 3 months of unlimited 1:1 coaching. You may sign up within 1 year from when you have returned to work.

Can my spouse or family member participate in the coaching sessions?

Our program is intended for employees only.

I am not a new parent, but am I still eligible for coaching?

No, our Working Parent Coaching program is currently only offered to soon-to-be or new parents.

This all sounds great. What about confidentiality?

Confidentiality between you and your coach exists to allow you to discuss your concerns or any gaps and explore new ideas freely.

If I have more questions, where should I go?
