Spark
AI FAQs

Answers to some of our most popular questions about Spark.

What is Spark?

Spark is an always-on AI coaching-support experience in the Torch platform that helps participants think through work challenges, prepare for conversations, practice scenarios, and build leadership capacities in the flow of work.

Spark complements live coaching but does not replace it.

How is Spark different from other AI coaching tools?

Spark is a customized AI coach designed to work alongside expert human coaches, not replace them. It is grounded in leadership capacities, organizational and participant context, and privacy protections rather than generic advice or motivational content.

What organizational context does Spark use?

Company Context:

  • General company information
  • Company goals
  • Company challenges
  • Company happenings
  • Coaching expectations
  • Performance Guidelines & Policies
  • Leadership capacities

This context is used to frame development conversations, not to enforce rules or monitor behavior.

Spark does not access confidential company systems or internal documents unless supplied by the customer.

Is Spark secure?

Yes. Spark follows Torch’s enterprise security and privacy standards.

It is designed and operated to meet enterprise security expectations, including:

  • Encryption in transit and at rest to protect data
  • Strict access controls and role-based permissions to limit internal access
  • Audit logging and monitoring for accountability and traceability
  • Isolated tenant data to prevent cross-customer access
  • Secure infrastructure and operational controls aligned with Torch’s security program

Spark also follows Torch’s privacy commitments and does not use customer data to train AI models.

What actually happens in a Spark conversation?

Spark:

  • Orients to what the user wants to achieve in that conversation
  • Asks focused clarifying questions
  • Helps surface assumptions, emotions, or dynamics beneath the situation
  • Uses leadership capacities and organizational context as a framing lens
  • Supports the user in identifying small, realistic next steps

Spark is designed to help participants arrive at their own solutions, not to solve problems for them.

How is Spark different from live coaching?

Spark provides short, on-demand coaching conversations and role-play practice in the moment.

Live coaching provides:

  • A sustained human relationship
  • Deeper personal context
  • Long-term developmental guidance

Spark supports reflection and preparation so participants arrive at coaching sessions clearer and more prepared.

Who can see a user’s Spark conversations?

Only the user. Individual Spark conversation transcripts, quotes, and details are never visible to:

  • Managers
  • HR
  • Admins
